a little patience could have done it

gah.

sometimes, it's better wait instead of trying to get something right away.

anyway. I was reading Amos 4...and it talks about Israel not accepting God's corrections from their ways and not returning to Him even when He withheld rain, locusts ate their harvest, and even caused a plague, killing their people. Verse 12 and 13 struck out to me because this is God making them know who He is and the power that He holds over everything.

12 “ Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel;
Because I will do this to you,
Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!
13 For behold,
He who forms mountains,
And creates the wind,
Who declares to man what his thought is,
And makes the morning darkness,
Who treads the high places of the earth—
The LORD God of hosts is His name.

When I read the line "Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!", my eyes literally opened wide and for some reason I pictured that scene from Independence day when the mothership shot the huge beam down on the white house and destroyed it. I mean...it's not exactly the same thing, but that power and the lack of effort to destroy the building reminded me of how mighty God is (only He's like infinite times more powerful). It's so effortless how He can strike down with wrath, but even with that, He can also lend a gentle hand upon us.
Sometimes our human errors make God reach that point to where He has to remind us of who He is and to know our place when it comes to His presence and glory. I mean, how could we ever, EVER have a resume and skill set like God has? We can't form mountains, or create wind, or know people's thoughts and inner desires, or create an Earth let alone an entire universe! We especially can't create a way to salvation, especially sacrificing one's own son to provide it.

On a kind of different topic, today's message was really good and I liked how Pastor Ron mentioned "Let go and let God". It makes sense to leave everything under the care of the One who created and wants the best for your life within His will. People can be stubborn of course. I can be stubborn of course. Even so, God is always ready, even when we aren't.
